New Year, New Gallery Wall Display!!

posted in: Exhibitions, New Painting, News | 0

Happy New Year, here we go 2020!!

I've kicked it off with taking a full wall at the popular 'David Giles Gallery' at 49B High Street Fremantle - Four fresh new works are up with a couple other recent pieces, with many more to follow as I start the year hard at work in the studio.

Hanging yesterday coincided with the opening night of David Giles' 48th Solo show, what a great night with so many kind words and interest about my new pieces.

Focussing on Rottnest Island for 3 of these 4 new ones, I've really enjoyed going back to my Local Landscape themes after working solidly on the Cloudscape Series. Adding a few flourishes of plein-air inspired texture and brushwork, these pieces have already gained a lot of attention so get on down to the gallery any day of the week 11-5 to check them out in the flesh before they're snapped up!

Open 11am to late Wednesday the 4th of September at The National Hotel Fremantle, this dynamic exhibition is on show until November 4th

Cubic 27 Exhibition – Riverlands Montessori School Fundraiser

A wall with lots of paintings of cupcakesI've finally managed to upload a couple shots from the opening night of the Riverlands Montessori Schools' "Cubic 27" exhibition, that was on the 27th of September. Hard to get a shot of all my paintings up on the wall, but they looked great hanging together finally!

The opening night was a blast, over 200 people viewing the work, then everyone waited outside until the bell was rung and they all rushed in and grabbed the paintings they wanted !
It was great to watch, an absolute frenzy of art-buying, everyone had a great time.

Trip to Japan

I just got back to Perth from a quick 2 week break in Japan, This time staying at a friends house, much easier than a hotel !
The shot above is of an old castle in Odawara ( well that's just the gatehouse ), and below a shot of beautiful Yoyogi park.

I still have to sort through 500 photos, missed the Yokohama Triennial ( damn they were still setting up the day we went ) but I managed to see "Looking east" a collection from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Time to get back to work !
